Louisiana Mo, to quote the words of Whitesnakes lead singer David Coverdale “I don’t know where I’m going, but I sure know where I’ve been.” Your Louisiana Bulldogs football team is 3-0 for the first time since 1997. That’s 29 years since the team has gotten off to this kind of start. Take a step back and think about that, 29 years. There’s guys that were on that 1997 team that are Grandpa’s now! That’s how long it’s been. Seinfeld and ER were the top 2 shows on television. Titanic was the number 1 movie at the box office. And Biggie and Puff Daddy’s “Mo Money Mo Problems” was the #1 song on the pop charts.
To say it’s been a long time is an understatement. 29 years, nearly 3 decades, a totally different millennium. Before smart phones, high definition television, and streaming online was a thing. So to say this is something special is an understatement. This is a generational thing that’s happening that we are basically dead square in the middle of the ride. The Bulldogs only have 3 home games left in the regular season and this Friday September 18 they host the Wright City Wildcats. Kickoff will happen at Cunningham Field at 7 PM. I challenge the town and all alumni to pack the stands. So that there is no parking spot available in the parking lot and people are parking at the shopping center across from the high school. That it’s standing room only lining up and down the fence line.
For about 2 decades now it’s been “what happened to the football program” For about 2 decades it’s been “when are they going to win” and “will they shut down the program” A lot of negative has surrounded the program and now you have a chance to experience and celebrate the positive. The team deserves the support and the town deserves this winner. The team represents the town so the town should represent for the team. Friday night, September 18 be at Cunningham Field and bring back that spirit and support we saw and experienced in in the glory days of the program.
