A Message from our President…

Way back in 1998 the classes of ‘78 and ‘68 happened to be gathering at
the same venue for their respective reunions and quite frankly had a ball! Several of those in attendance remarked how fun it would be to have a gathering of ALL the classes.

Well, it took about 10 years, but the Louisiana High School Alumni and Friends Association came to fruition in 2008. Since then, we have grown our database of alumni to over 7600 names. We owe a debt of gratitude to Mike Pratt who for most of our years has built that database along with a “family tree” that connects us all, maintained an email and mail contact list and maintained a “memorial list” of deceased members. He retired this year, and his expertise will be missed undoubtedly.

We do not have DUES, everyone who ever attended Louisiana Schools is considered a member/friend. With that said, it is imperative that YOU, our friends and classmates, help us continue our work.

The Association’s Purpose: Provide Financial and Moral support to the Louisiana R-II School District; Provide Scholarships to Graduating Seniors of the Louisiana R-II School District; Provide a network of contacts for volunteerism to the Louisiana R-II School District.

You’ll see in this newsletter just some of the financial support and special recognition we have brought to our Alma mater. A contribution to the general funds in any amount would be so appreciated! Our Scholarship funds are used STRICTLY for Scholarships.

Your generosity to the scholarship fund is commendable of course but just the printing & mailing of the newsletter is over $3000. We have had several fundraising ventures but those take manpower, booths, sales promos, etc. Financial support for the general fund from you will allow us to continue to help our students, faculty and campus.

Enjoy this year’s newsletter content, consider supporting our Association and get your reservation in early for the annual event! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any consideration.

– Cindy Sitton Blaylock, Class of 1978
